IISER Kolkata invites applications from motivated students for admission to the MS programme in Chemistry for Autumn 2024.
No. of Student Intake:~25 per year
Eligibility Criteria:
Students with a Bachelor's degree with Chemistry as a subject for three years, or an equivalent degree from any recognized university/institute/college can apply for the Two-Year M.Sc. programme in the Department of Chemical Sciences.
*Candidates who are in the final year of B.Sc. may also apply. Admission, however, will be subject to completion of all formalities, as described below, in 'Selection Procedure'.
Minimum Qualifying Marks:*
Candidates need to secure a minimum of 60% marks/equivalent grades in Honors/Major (if applicable), or 60% marks/equivalent grades in aggregate (if Honors/Major is not applicable). Those who are appearing in the final examination of their degree course can also apply; for them, the eligibility marks are 60% marks/equivalent based on the marks obtained in the undergraduate examinations held till the date of submission of the application form.
*For candidates whose final examination marks are not available at the time of applications, the marks till their 5th Semester will be considered.

Who Can Apply:
Please note that applicants who have qualified in the following nation-wide aptitude tests in the year 2023 or 2024 only can apply for the programme: JAM (Chemistry).

Students are required to have the following subject(s) in the undergraduate courses:
Subject: Chemistry with Mathematics and Biology/Physics
How to Apply:
The applicants should open the link at the bottom of this page (Submit New Application) and properly fill the application form as instructed and submit. Applicants should save the properly filled application form and take a print as the hard copy of the application. In case a candidate is applying to multiple departments, separate applications need to be filled for each department.
Documents Required:
In the case of a physical interview, candidates selected for interview should bring a printout of application form along with the required documents (along with originals) listed below at the time of interview:
Self-attested copies of
(i) mark sheets and (ii) certificates of all examinations starting from secondary examination.
Self-attested copy of the qualifying examination certificate.
Proof of qualification of JAM.
Proof of Age: 10th Level (Certificate) + AADHAR
Photo Identity: AADHAR/PAN/PASSPORT/Voter ID
Selection Procedure:
A department/institute-level committee duly approved by the competent authority will scrutinize all the applications, and prepare a shortlist of candidates, who will be called for the interview.
No online interview will be conducted. Only offline interview will be conducted.
Only shortlisted students will be called for the interviews based on the shortlisting criteria. The results will be displayed in the institute website and NO separate e-mail/hard copies will be circulated/sent.
Shortlisting Criteria:*
JAM (Chemistry) rank will be considered based on the applications received.
*The shortlisting criteria for the reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PH/EWS) will be as per the GoI.
Selection Criteria:*
Based on the JAM (Chemistry) rank applications will be shortlisted and called for interview. Candidates will be selected on the basis of the interview performance.
*The candidates whose final results are awaited will be admitted provisionally. Such candidates need to fulfill all the criteria within 60 days of their admission.
