| List of Selected Applicants for the screening Test
Due to COVID-19 pandemic we are not able to conduct a direct written test/interview at IISER Kolkata. We will be having a screening followed by an online interview for candidates shortlisted further. Please note that, to process the application further for screening, one (Applicants for Group A and Group B both) must fill up the following Google form by 29th November, 2021: Click Here Please avoid submitting this form more than once. Please note the following important points: 1. The screening will based on all details filled in google form and subsequently, there will be an online interview (for candidates shortlisted after screening). Both will revolve around the research area you choose in the form (this is set as per advertisement). Please select the area carefully as it can not be changed later. Note that a special screening before interview will be done only for applicants under Group A , there will be no such screening before interview for applicants under Group B. 2. The online Interview (for candidates shortlisted through screening) will be during : 8th December - 10th December, 2021 tentatively (For Group A and B both). 3. Please ask your referees to write an email/letter of recommendation from his/her official email address in the format provided in the link: http://apply.iiserkol.ac.in/phd/reco-format.pdf. Subject line/filename of the recommendation letter/email should be of the form (candidate name)_(application no.). Both the recommendations should reach us in the email: dms.phd.application@iiserkol.ac.in within December 3, 2021. If it is not possible to send a scan copy of the filled up reco form the link (Click Here). Under this covid situation, it is enough to send the recommendation over email in the following format. ----------------------- Format of Recommendation Letter: Name of the applicant: Application number: Name of Recommender: Designation: Institution: i. In what capacity do you know this student? (Instructor of a course/Supervisor in summer training/Dissertation Supervisor/Project supervisor/if anything else, please specify) ii. Ranking of the student: Please rank the student (i.e. whether Outstanding (top 5%)/High (5-10%)/Medium (10-20%)/Low (less than 20%)) in each of the following categories among ......(please mention the number) UG/PG students that you have taught so far. a) General Aptitude - b) Breadth of Scientific Interest - c) Knowledge of Discipline - d) Diligence - e) Communication Skills - f) Writing Skills - iv. Applicant's strengths: v. Applicant's weaknesses: vi. Summary of your evaluation and additional comments on the applicant (a brief description): ----------------------- Note that during this COVID-19 pandemic, to maintain the clarity of the admission process we are not able to take recommendations over the phone. We can only accept recommendation letters in email from the official email address of the two referees. 4. Please name and upload the documents as instructed in the Google form. This is meant for verification purposes. Date of award letter (or date of mark statement/scorecard) for the Externally funded fellowship (NET-JRF/NBHM-JRF/Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship/ Maulana Azad National Fellowship/INSPIRE ) to be availed. In case of NET-LS/GATE candidates, please write the date of award letter (or date of mark statement/scorecard) which is more recent. If the award letter/mark statement/scorecard is not available, only in that case one should write the date of declaration of the result in Google form. For final year students, upload in a single file the provisional marksheet available till now for master degree. 5. Important Dates: PhD application (Google form) portal opens: November 26, 2021 Application (Google form) portal closes: November 29, 2021 Last date of receiving email recommendation from both the referees: December 3, 2021. Publication of list of candidates shortlisted after screening: December 4, 2021 Tentative Online Interview dates: 8- 10 December, 2021 Publication of PhD interview results: December 21, 2021.
