PhD Advertisement for Autumn Semester 2018

The Centre for Advanced Functional Materials (CAFM) of IISER Kolkata invites applications in the regular Ph.D. programme for Autumn semester, 2018 in the interdisciplinary research areas of:

 

Minimum Eligibility Criteria in general: Bright and motivated candidates who have obtained M.Sc. and/or M.Tech. degree with minimum 55% marks in the areas of Chemistry, Physics or Biology.

There are two different channels for admission in the PhD programme.

Channel 1: Apart from satisfying minimal eligibility criteria, the candidates must have CSIR/UGC-NET JRF, INSPIRE fellowship or other equivalent fellowship.

 

Channel 2: Institute funding:In the exceptional cases, a limited number of Institute fellowships MAY BE available for the students. For this fellowship, candidates must have qualified in any prestigious national level examinations like GATE or NET-LS (apart from satisfying minimal eligibility criteria).

 

* Please note that fulfilling the minimum essential criteria does not ensure that a candidate will be called for the interview. Additional short listing criteria might be set by the Centre based on academic records, experience and research interest of the candidates.

 

** Reservations for SC/ST/OBC candidates are applicable as per Government of India rules.

Requirement: MS/M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Physics/Physical Chemistry with minimum 55% marks. Must have valid fellowship like UGC/CSIR-NET JRF, DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships.
Desirable:A keen interest in biology and microscopy; experience in wet lab/ cell culture; basic knowledge of programming
