Information and Instruction for applicants of Post-Bachelor Integrated PhD programme (2013-14)
Eligibility: Students with a B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.B.B.S. degree from any recognized University/Institute/College can apply for the Post-Bachelor Integrated Ph.D. programme in Biological, Chemical, Earth, Mathematical and Physical Sciences. Candidates need to secure a minimum of 60% marks in Honours or Major (whichever applicable) or equivalent grades in their qualifying examinations. Those who are appearing in the final examination of their degree course can also apply; for them, the eligibility marks are 60% in aggregate, based on the marks obtained in the undergraduate examinations held so far. Students applying for a Post-Bachelor Integrated Ph.D. Programme are required to have the following subject(s) in the undergraduate courses:
Documents required: Selected candidates for test/interview should bring a hard copy of application along with the required documents listed below at the time of test/interview:
Selection procedure: Institute-level committee(s) will scrutinize all the applications, and prepare a shortlist of candidates, who will be called for written test/interview. The students qualifying the written test will be interviewed (the same day or the next day). The Institute will finally declare the list of selected candidates on the Institute website. Students will be given a monthly fellowship. For candidates whose final examination marks are not available at the time of interview, admission to the programme will be provisional. They must produce their final mark sheet to Academic Cell showing that they had secured 60% or more in aggregate in their Bachelor within 60 days of their admission.
Details about written test / interview: The selection of candidates would be a two tiered process. Written test is mandatory for all candidates.
Those who are selected from the written test would be called for the interview.
Each department will conduct written test on the first day of the two day period mentioned below, and the interview
of the candidates selected in the written test will be either on the same day or on the next day.
For example, the written test for Department of Chemical Sciences is on 17th June 2013 in the morning. The interview for Chemical Sciences would be in the
afternoon of 17th and both in the morning and the afternoon of 18th. Reporting time for the written test/interview is 9 am in the morning. All candidates must bring blue/black
ball point pens and a writing board for the written test.

Important message: Digital/Scanned Photograph: Before you start filling up the online application form, be ready with one scanned copy of your recent passport size photograph. Without the scanned photograph, the application form cannot be printed. Candidate applying for more than one stream: In this you have to apply for each of the separate stream/department separately.
